Minister Of Transportation Encourages Autobus Business Actors To Revive Amid The Pandemic

JAKARTA - The Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi supports the various efforts of autobus business actors to raise businesses in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. One of them is through the movement "Land Transportation Awakening from the Pandemic and Road Transportation Safety Campaign".

This movement socializes to the public regarding superior facilities inland transportation modes, such as buses. Massive socialization is being intensified through social media.

"I support this movement, because the current social media is very good for promoting land transportation, especially to the younger generation," said the Minister of Transportation when opening the "Sumatra 2021 Roadshow", organized by the Indonesian Young Autobus Entrepreneurs Association (IPOMI), in Jakarta, Sunday, March 14th.

Minister of Transportation Budi Karya said the promotion on social media was expected to increase public confidence that transportation by bus during this pandemic was safe. That way, road transport business actors can bounce back after experiencing a decrease in passengers in 2020.

There was also IPOMI Chairman Kurnia Lesani Adnan, who was the pioneer of the movement, said that the pandemic conditions had a direct impact on the road transportation industry, especially buses. Therefore, it needs joint efforts to revive this industry, by giving positive hopes to business actors and the community. "This movement is one way," he said.

For information, IPOMI is holding the Sumatra Roadshow in 2021 to show how active the land transportation industry is, especially buses. This roadshow is also to see road infrastructure in Sumatra, the current toll road from Lampung has reached Palembang while showing safety and comfort during the trip using the bus.

This activity will be broadcasted on Perpalz TV, a YouTube channel formed by IPOMI. This channel contains special content in the world of automotive and land transportation in Indonesia, both about the history, technology, regulation, and development of the world of Indonesian autobus land transportation. Through this channel, it is hoped that it will be able to properly educate the public about the development of the autobus world.
