Sri Mulyani Reveals Free Nutrition Food Program Encourages Indonesia's Economic Growth To Reach 8 Percent

Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati said that the free nutritious eating program could be one of the keys to boost Indonesia's economic growth by 8 percent.

It is known that the free nutritious dining program is one of the mainstay programs belonging to the elected president and vice president Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

According to Sri Mulyani, to realize Indonesia's vision of gold in 2025, higher economic growth is needed between 6 percent and 8 percent with quality and inclusiveness that needs to be improved.

Sri Mulyani explained, achieving high growth requires increasing contribution from productivity. This can be obtained through investment in human resources (HR) and economic transformation in order to create high added value in the national economy.

"Thus, the program to improve human resources, including through a nutritious food program and improving health reforms, improving the quality of education and improving social safety nets, is very important in increasing the productivity of Indonesia's human resources," he said at the 19th DPR Plenary Meeting. Session Period V 2023-2024, Tuesday, June 4.

Sri Mulyani conveyed the need for understanding and learning such as South Korea and Taiwan which consistently invest in human resources and increase their productivity so that they can be separated from the Middle Income Trap (MIT).

"It is necessary to have consistent high productivity in 15 years towards developed investment and the role of the manufacturing sector in South Korea growing above 10 percent every year, Likewise with Taiwan's experience of becoming a developed investment country and even growing 20 percent and the manufacturing sector growing above 8 percent," he explained.

In addition to this, Sri Mulyani said, there must still be improvements in the investment climate to increase the role of investment and manufacturing growth which is the key sector for the journey to Indonesia gold 2045.
