MIND ID Boss Reports Corruption Case At PT Timah To Coordinating Minister For Maritime Affairs: There Is A Big Problem

JAKARTA - President Director of the Mining BUMN Holding MIND ID Hendi Prio Santoso admitted that he had already smelled a big problem that occurred at PT Timah Tbk.

Hendi rushed to meet with the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menkomarves) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan to report the initial allegations of tin trade corruption.

"We have also indicated that there is a very big problem at PT Timah, for that we have reported this to our ministry, namely the Ministry of Maritime Affairs," Hendi said in a hearing with Commission VI of the DPR RI at the DPR RI Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday, June 3.

Hendi said that based on the report, Luhut immediately held a joint meeting inviting the Attorney General's Office, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), and the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP).

"We have revealed that the problem was followed up by a joint forum accompanied by the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries with a BPKP audit," he said.

According to Hendi, the current legal process and the findings of hundreds of trillions that were revealed to the public were the result of these efforts.

Therefore, Hendi denied that MIND ID saw the alleged corruption case which was predicted to cost the state Rp300 trillion.

"So it's not that we are silent, but we cannot convey it to the public because at that time we were lifted to a forum that was higher than us," he said.

As previously reported, Attorney General Sanitiar Burhanuddin said that state losses in the alleged corruption case of tin trading in the Mining Business Permit (IUP) area of PT Timah Tbk from 2015 to 2022 based on the results of the BPKP audit reached IDR 300.003 trillion.

"Initially we estimated Rp271 trillion, it turns out that after being audited the BPKP, the value was quite fantastic, around Rp300,003 trillion," he said at the Attorney General's Office, Jakarta, Wednesday, May 29.

The results of the audit by the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) were submitted by BPKP Chairman Muhammad Yusuf Ateh to Attorney General Sanitiar Burhanuddin.

Ateh said that his party investigated state losses after being asked by the Attorney General's Office. Based on the request, his party carried out audit procedures, investigations and also asked for information from experts.

"We submit the results of the audit of the calculation of state losses in cases of alleged non-criminal corruption in tin commodity trading, as stated by the Attorney General in total losses of around Rp. 300.003 trillion," said Ateh.
