Tapera Polemic, Ministry Of Manpower: Calm Down, No Salary Cuts Yet

JAKARTA - Director General of Industrial Relations and Social Security of Manpower of the Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker) Indah Anggoro Putri emphasized that cutting wages for the Savings of the Public Housing (Tapera) program will not apply at this time.

Indah also said that the time limit for the socialization until the program is actually implemented is until 2027. This means that there are still about three years of wkatu to absorb aspirations from various parties.

"Just say we will continue to have intensive discussions and once again this is still until 2027. Don't worry, there has been no pay cut for workers anywhere non-ASN, TNI-Polri," he said at a press conference at the Presidential Staff Office, Jakarta, Friday, May 31.

Furthermore, Indah also said that workers' salary cuts for Tapera program savings would be regulated in more detail in the Minister of Manpower Regulation (Permenaker).

"So I want to convey that on this occasion the issuance of Government Regulation Number 21 of 2024 is not merely a means of deducting salaries or wages for non-ASN workers, the TNI-Polri because later the deductions will be regulated in the Minister of Manpower regulations. It's about the mechanism," he explained.

Meanwhile, Presidential Chief of Staff (KSP) General TNI (Ret.) Moeldoko stated that the funds collected as savings for the Public Housing Savings (Tapera) program could be disbursed as cash if the participants no longer needed to finance the house.

"But what form for those who already have a house? Do we have to build a house? Earlier we discussed inside, later in the end when he retires, it's finished, it can be withdrawn in a fresh form of money with the maturation that occurs," he said.

Moeldoko emphasized that the Tapera program is not a contribution through salary cuts but savings that are required by law (UU).

"So I want to emphasize that Tapera is not a salary cut or a fee, but this Tapera is a savings. In the law it is mandatory, there is a law that says it requires," he said.
