JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) conducted sudden inspections (sidak) at a number of hotels, restaurants and cafes (horeka) related to the use of LPG in the DKI Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, and Bali areas.

Acting Director General of Oil and Gas at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Dadan Kusdiana said, from the inspection carried out, his party found indications of mixing 3 kilograms (kg) of LPG to 12 kg and 50 kg.

"There are indications of an oplosan. For example, there is a purchase price for 50 kg LPG cylinder consumers of Rp. 600,000, while the price of Pertamina is in the range of Rp. 900,000 per cylinder," said Dadan, quoted on Thursday, May 30.

In the context of taking action against subsidized LPG abuse, said Dadan, his party coordinates with law enforcement officials (APH) to provide expert information on the misuse of subsidized LPG distribution which continues to increase every year.

Dadan said that since the last two years (2022-2024) there have been 23 cases of administrative violations and 149 criminal cases in the form of transferring gas contents from 3 kg LPG cylinders.

His party together with Pertamina checked and supervised the distribution of 3 kg LPG refills every month.

Verification is carried out on agents, bases, and consumers to correct subsidized LPG volumes.

On the other hand, the government is also preparing a revision of Presidential Decree No. 104 of 2007 concerning Provision, Distribution, and Determination of 3 Kg LPG Prices in order to regulate the criteria for consumers of melon gas.

"Currently (revision of the Presidential Regulation) is waiting for approval of the initiative permit," concluded Dadan.
