JAKARTA - MMS Group Indonesia (MSGI) together with 15 other leading companies participated in the Sustainable Development Goals Innovation (SDGI) Accelerator for Young Professional, empowering young talents to innovate in line with the SDGI program, Wednesday 15 May.

MMS Group Indonesia carries the theme Reviving Hope: From Mining Void to Clean Water for All, which aims to develop a circular model in overcoming the problem of clean water in four villages in Kutai Kartanegara with a positive impact on a sustainable future.

Based on the results of in-depth research from internal parties, water in the post-mining landscape can be used as pure quality water reservoirs. Realizing this transformative potential, MMSGI seeks opportunities to provide clean and sustainable water for local communities for household and agricultural purposes.

This clean water program supports SDG 6 (Clean Water and Decent Sanitation) and SDG 3 (Good Health and Welfare) because access to clean water helps improve public health.

The clean water distribution project from the post-mining landscape was built in a total area of 8.6 hectares with water volumes reaching 2.7 million cubic meters. The clean water circulation program project from this post-mining landscape is able to reach up to around 3,000 residents in four villages in Kutai Kartanegara, namely Sentuk, Lung Anai, Rempanga and Donomulyo.

MMSGI CEO Sendy Grety said, if it can be managed properly, the clean water circular model program from the post-mining landscape will minimize the impact on the social environment.

"The post-mining landscape presents various challenges, even though post-mining assets can actually be transformed into a sustainable after-mining life and environment," he said, in a written statement, quoted Friday, May 25.

This clean water circular project from the post-mining landscape involves the development of innovative water infrastructure by utilizing hydram pump technology that does not require electricity, supporting SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, Infrastructure) & SDG 13 (Civil Change Handling).

By implementing projects under the management of Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDESA), this initiative not only ensures local ownership and empowerment but also fosters post-mining community economic resilience that supports SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and SDG 11 (City and Sustainable Community).

The involvement of BUMDESA, supporting ecosystems, governments, the public and the private sector creates a sustainable circular model in accordance with SDG 17 (A Partnership to Achieve Goals).

This event is part of the UN Global Compact organized by the Indonesia Global Compact Networks (IGCN) to support future innovators through SDGI Accelerator for young professionals. The focus is on developing and implementing innovative solutions through technology, initiatives, and the latest business model that contributes to the company's sustainability goals.
