JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has started testing the startability of building generator machines using biodiesel fuel B40. Where, the fuel is a mixture of diesel fuel (BBM) with 40 percent of vegetable fuel (BBN).

The trial was carried out by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources' Center for Oil and Gas Testing (BBPMGB).

Head of LEMIGAS of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Mustafid Gunawan, explained that testing the use of B40 biodiesel in 12 cars in 2022 had been carried out. Six of the six vehicles were heavyweight below 3.5 tons with a daily target of 560 km from a total of 50,000 km.

"Now, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) through BBPMGB LEMIGAS as the implementer of testing, conducts B40 fuel testing on generator machines and industrial heavy vehicles," he said, quoting Antara.

The test of the generator's initiality was opened by the Head of the LEMIGAS Center, represented by the Coordinator of the Testing Group for the Cahyo Widodo LEMIGAS Product Application and attended by representatives of the Directorate General of EBTKE, Aprobi, BPDPKS, Directorate General of Oil and Gas, PT PLN (Persero), PT PLN Puslitbang, and BRIN.

The event began with the opening and presentation of the preparation of the startability test and continued with visits to several generators, which had been prepared for testing and were in the LemIGAS office complex.

Testing was carried out in four generators of building plants with four different brands in the BBPMGB LEMIGAS area.

The test starts on Monday (20/5/2024) and will be completed on October 16, 2024.

"The testing parameters are included the environmental temperature of the generator, the humidity of the generator environment, the fuel temperature of B40 generators, the temperature of the generator oil, and the voltage of the generator battery," said Mustafid.
