PUPR Minister Basuki Encourages The Acceleration Of South Korean Water Projects At IKN

JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono encouraged the acceleration of the Net Zero Water Supply Infrastructure Project project in the capital city of Nusantara, while attending a bilateral meeting with South Korea.

"Currently, the Ministry of PUPR has built a SPAM project with a capacity of 300 liters per second at IKN. The SPAM will soon operate in July 2024. However, we still need the support of the Korean Government to accelerate the collaboration of other SPAM development at IKN this year," Basuki said when meeting with the Deputy Minister of Water Management Policy of the Ministry of South Korea Jae-Heyon Park in Badung, Bali, quoted from Antara, Monday, May 20.

Mr. Bas, Basuki's nickname, thanked the Korean government for the support and collaboration between Indonesia and Korea which is currently underway.

Currently, he said, the Net Zero Water Supply Infrastructure Project at IKN Nusantara is in the process of completing the DED.

As stated in the MOU which will be signed by the Director General of Human Settlements and Vice President of the K-Water Global Business Division, the project is targeted to start construction in 2024.

"The Indonesian government also expresses its gratitude for other ongoing cooperation projects, namely the Pilot Project of Smart Water Management in Denpasar, Bali which is targeted for completion in 2025," said Basuki.

In addition, he is also grateful for the Feasibility Study (FS) for the Smart Water Management (SWM) System for Increasing Water Supply Efficiency in Semarang City.

Not to forget, Basuki also appreciated the Korean government for its support for the implementation of the 10th World Water Forum in 2024 in Bali, Indonesia.

Previously, Basuki also attended the implementation of the 7th World Water Forum in 2015 in Daegu, Korea.

Currently, the 10th World Water Forum is attended by nearly 46,000 participants and delegates. Based on data since last night, around 20,121 participants have registered," said Basuki.

On this occasion, Jae-Heyon Park appreciated the Indonesian government for the implementation of the 10th World Water Forum in 2024.

The Korean government also took an active role by sending its 60 delegates, and holding the Korean Pavilion at the 10th World Water Forum exhibition.
