Indonesia Imports The Largest Jewelry And Permata From Australia

JAKARTA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) revealed that Indonesia imported 2,018 tons of precious metals of jewelry and gems during January-April 2024 or 814 million US dollars.

Deputy for Distribution and Services Statistics Agency (BPS) Pudji Ismartini said the import volume of precious metals and jewelry or gems imported by Indonesia in April 2024 reached 562 tons, an increase compared to the volume of imports in March 2024 which was only 293 tons. Meanwhile, in April 2023 it was only 350 tons.

In terms of value, imports of precious metals and jewelry or gems also rose to 248 million US dollars compared to March 2024 of only 173 million US dollars. In April 2023 the import value was only 152 million US dollars.

"In April 2024, the volume and import value of precious metals and jewelry or Indonesian spies has increased. Ending the downward trend in recent months," he said at a press conference, Wednesday, May 15.

Pudji conveyed that imports of precious metals and jewelry or Indonesian spies during January-April 2024 from Australia reached US$242.16 million or 29.76 percent, Hong Kong amounted to US$184.39 million or 22.66.

"Imports of Mulia Metal and Jewelry / Permata (HS 71) throughout January "April 2024, mainly imported from Australia with a value of 242.16 million US dollars or covering 29.76 percent of the total imports of Logam Mulia and Jewelry / Permata," he explained.

Furthermore, imports of precious metals and jewelry or Indonesian spies during January-April 2024 from Switzerland were worth 130.58 million US dollars or 16.05 percent, Singapore amounted to 91.07 million US dollars or 11.19 percent and other countries 165.3 million US dollars around 20.33 percent.
