Deputy Minister Of SOEs Reveals That There Will Be A Ministry Of Housing In The Prabowo-Gibran Reservoir

JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of SOEs, Kartika Wirjoatmodjo revealed that there was a discourse that the Ministry of Housing would be separated, aka stand alone.

The ministry will be realized in the Prabowo-Gibran government.

As for the current government of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), the Ministry of Housing is joined by the Ministry of Public Works, to become the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR).

"Pak Budi, I heard that maybe in the future there will be a separation, that there will be another Ministry of Housing in the future," he told reporters in Jakarta, Monday, May 13.

The man who is familiarly called Tiko explained that if later the Housing Ministry becomes one of its own agencies, the agenda of cutting the number of housing stocks or housing backlogs can be more focused on solving.

"So the focus is really changed to the housing agenda again, we can be closer to the government to build a more regulated development concept," said Tiko.

Currently, continued Tiko, the housing backlog figure has increased from 10 million, to 12 million due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The reason is, during the pandemic residential development activities are very limited.

"We have to understand that our backlog was conveyed to be increasing, not decreasing. Previously, as I remember 10 million in the early 2015 period, now even 12 million due to COVID-19. During COVID-19, developers may be very limited," said Tiko.

Therefore, Tiko also encourages Perum Perumnas to focus on developing quality and strategic housing, as well as at affordable prices. Thus, the housing backlog numbers can be reduced.

However, Tiko said that in carrying out this, the government needed to provide support to Perumnas. For example, by providing interest subsidies, unused land, financing for the construction of residential projects, and so on.

"If possible, this government support is strong for people's housing in the form of various kinds of financing, land delivery that is not utilized, including financing," said Tiko.
