Chairman of the Association of Electric Motorcycle Industries (Aismoli) Budi Setiyadi hopes that the subsidy program of IDR 7 million for the purchase of electric motors will be rolled out again in the governments of Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

It is known, the government through the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) provides subsidies for every purchase of electric motorcycles of IDR 7 million per unit for 1 ID card.

The policy is contained in the Regulation of the Minister of Industry (Permenperin) Number 21 of 2023 concerning Amendments to the Minister of Industry Regulation No. 6 of 2023 concerning Guidelines for Providing Government Assistance for the Purchase of Two-wheeled Electric Motor Vehicles (KBL).

This aims to encourage more people to immediately switch from gasoline to electric motorcycles.

This includes supporting the reduction in consumption or use of fossil fuels.

"I hope that from Aismoli, I will continue because the target is 2024, right, (distribution) 600,000 units will continue to be lowered. If possible there will be more, continue in 2025," Budi said when met by reporters at the groundbreaking of the Yadea factory in the Surya Semesta Internusa area, Karawang Regency, West Java, Monday, May 13.

"The new government may have the same commitment," he continued.

Budi added that currently a number of ministries or institutions have also started switching to electric vehicles, both for operations and self-use.

This is expected to be an example for the community to immediately switch to electric motorcycles.

"Some ministries have used (electric vehicles) of the Ministry of Transportation, of course, they have used it. Then, the Ministry of SOEs as well. I know Pak Erick Thohir is also very encouraging," said Budi.

"If the government uses an electric motorbike, of course the public will imitate the use," he added.

Quoting information from the official website of the Information System for the Purchase of Two-wheeled Electric Vehicles (SISAPIRa) as of May 13, 2024, only 11,532 subsidized electric motors were distributed from the target of 200,000 units in 2023.

Meanwhile, for 2024 itself, 11,257 are still in the registration process, 588 are verified and 15,109 subsidized electric motors are distributed to date.
