Chronology Of Customs And Excise Detains 9 Malaysian Luxury Cars To Pay IDR 11 Billion

JAKARTA - Viral Customs and Excise at Soekarno-Hatta Airport was reported by businessmen from Malaysia for alleged abuse of nine luxury cars that are now being held.

Special Staff for Communication at the Ministry of Finance Yustinus Prastowo revealed the chronology that up to nine luxury cars had to pay a fine of up to tens of billions of rupiah.

He said the temporary import of the car was carried out within 2019-2020 with the procedure used, namely AtA Carnet. However, in 2021, AtA Carnet's validity period is expired.

"In connection with the expiration date of the ATA Carnet document, Soekarno-Hatta Customs and Excise sent a letter of notification of the net guarantee claim to the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce (Kadin) and sealing goods in the context of securing goods," said Yustinus Praswoto Saturday, May 11.

However, after six months since the claim letter, there was no cash guarantee, Soekarno-Hatta Customs issued nine administrative sanctions (SPSA) against the nine cars with a fine of Rp. 8,898,930,000.

"Until the payment date of SPSA or 60 days since it was issued, payment has not yet been made, so it is continued to an active collection mechanism by issuing a warning letter on December 5, 2022," he explained.

"Within 21 days since the warning letter was issued, there has been no payment, Soekarno-Hatta Customs has issued a forced letter on December 26, 2022," added Prastowo.

Prastowo further continued that up to 2X24 hours after being handed over by a forced letter and no bill payments were made. So, the process continues by controlling the order to carry out the confiscation (SPMP) issued on March 16, 2023.

"Until May 2024, payment has not been made with total bills and interest reaching Rp 11.8 billion and will reach the maximum tag in November 2024 with a value of Rp. 13.1 billion," he concluded.
