Extend Cooperation With WRI, PLN Boss: Concrete Steps To Increase EBT

JAKARTA - The extension of cooperation between PLN and the World Resources Institute (WRI) Indonesia is one of the concrete steps to continue to increase the portion of new and renewable energy (EBT) in Indonesia.

JAKARTA - PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (Persero) (PLN) has extended its cooperation with the World Resources Institute (WRI) Indonesia.

President Director of PT PLN (Persero) Darmawan Prasodjo said this collaboration is one of the concrete steps to continue to increase the portion of new and renewable energy (EBT) in Indonesia.

Given that previous collaborations have generated renewable energy certificates (REC) which are part of the green energy as a service (GEAS) to meet the needs of the industrial sector for green electricity.

"The collaboration between PLN and Indonesian citizens is one of our ways to realize the energy transition plan. PLN is committed to continuing to strive for the presence of green electricity services that can be reached by the public and industry players," Darmawan said quoting Antara.

Meanwhile, the continued cooperation with Indonesian citizens regarding the development of green product innovations for the industrial sector and carbon management strategies. This is in line with PLN's commitment to support the Indonesian government to achieve the net zero emissions (NZE) 2060 target or sooner.

"We at PLN are committed to continuing to innovate and collaborate with various parties to ensure that in the future the energy we use is not only reliable and strong, but also environmentally friendly," said Darmawan.

Meanwhile, Indonesian Indonesian Board of Trustees Masyita Crystallin said that since 2020, PLN and Indonesian citizens have collaborated effectively for the development of green products. With this extension of cooperation, Indonesian citizens hope to be able to help PLN and the Indonesian government to continue to reduce carbon emissions from the energy sector.

"Indonesia has set its newest target for nationally determined contributions (NDC), namely to reduce carbon emissions by 31.89 percent independently and 43.2 percent with international assistance," said Maysita.

Responding to these conditions, PLN and WRI Indonesia agreed to continue cooperation in the development of green electricity products and analyze opportunities for the implementation of carbon economic value (NEK) in the electricity sector.
