Fertilizer Kujang Boosts Production To Support Government Policy On Subsidized Quota And Fertilizer For Farmers

JAKARTA - Pupuk Kujang continues to boost fertilizer production to support government policies regarding the addition of quotas and types of subsidized fertilizers for farmers.

"We continue to optimize production to support the addition of allocations and types of subsidized fertilizers to farmers which are currently being implemented," said President Director of Pupuk Kujang Maryono in Karawang, West Java, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, May 7.

He conveyed that the government had decided on policies in the agricultural sector to increase the allocation and type of subsidized fertilizer for farmers.

Through the Decree of the Minister of Agriculture Number 249/2024 concerning the Determination of the Highest Retail Allocation and Price of Subsidized Fertilizer for Fiscal Year 2024, farmers who have the right to redeem subsidized fertilizers can redeem organic fertilizers.

Previously, since June 2022, the government's subsidized fertilizers were only urea and NPK. However, in mid-2023, President Jokowi wants organic fertilizers to be subsidized again.

This was realized and implemented through the decision of the Minister of Agriculture in mid-2024, the government subsidized organic fertilizer. That way, farmers who have been registered have the right to receive subsidized fertilizers for the three types of fertilizers.

In addition to subsidizing organic fertilizer, in the middle of this year the government has also increased the number of subsidized fertilizer allocations for farmers. President Jokowi has approved the addition of subsidized fertilizer allocations for farmers from 4.7 million tons to 9.5 million tons, an increase of 100 percent.

"The addition of the allocation must of course be supported by optimal fertilizer production," he said.

As a subsidiary of Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) which is tasked with distribution areas in West Java and Banten, he said, Pupuk Kujang continues to produce fertilizers to meet the needs of farmers.

The production capacity of Pupuk Kujang reaches 1,140,000 tons urea per year. Meanwhile, the NPK reaches 200,000 tons per year.

"The production capacity can be fulfilled by assignments from the government. However, we continue to carry out various developments and improvements," said Maryono.

Based on a copy of the Ministry of Agriculture, it has been determined that the allocation of subsidized fertilizers for West Java is 1,211,550 tons, with details of urea as much as 634,660 tons, NPK as much as 475,555 tons including special and organic formulas as much as 101,005 tons.

Meanwhile, in addition to increasing the allocation and type of subsidized fertilizer to farmers, the government has also set the highest retail price (HET) for subsidized fertilizers in the middle of this year.

HET for urea fertilizer remains IDR 2,250 per kilogram, NPK fertilizer remains IDR 2,300 per kilogram, and organic fertilizer IDR 800 per kilogram.

Farmers who are entitled to subsidized fertilizer are farmers who are registered in the farmer group (Poktan) and listed in e-RDKK and SIMLUHTAN.
