KKP Opens Opportunities For Cooperation In Lobster Seed Power With Other Countries

JAKARTA - Special Assistant to the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries for Media Affairs and Public Communication of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) Doni Ismanto revealed that Indonesia through the KKP opens wide opportunities for other countries to cooperate in lobster clear seed cultivation (BBL) provided that they bring funds and technology. "Yes, not only cooperation with Vietnam), if there are (investors of other countries) coming, bring money and technology," Doni said at a press conference to thwart BBL smuggling held in Palembang, quoted from Antara, Monday, May 6. Meanwhile, if foreign investors come with funds and technology for BBL cultivation, then Indonesia will not only benefit from the economic side but also the development side of human resources and domestic fuel cultivation technology that is increasingly advanced. "We want to cultivate here, build together big together, it's like we play together, don't let us be left behind when he's getting bigger. But we're getting more and more like this (there's no change)," explained KKP has launched the Regulation of the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (Permen) KP Number 7 of 2024 concerning Management of Lobster, Crab and Crab in March.

Doni added that the purpose of this rule is an effort to transform governance by prioritizing the principle of sustainability of lobster cultivation and making Indonesia an important part of the global supply chain of world lobsters.

It is known that the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono revealed that lobster cultivation cooperation with Vietnam was able to revive the lobster cultivation ecosystem in Indonesia because the ecosystem, which has not been optimal so far, has become an obstacle to the development of national lobster cultivation. "Because the lobster power ecosystem has not been running optimally so far. But in this way (cooperation) the ecosystem will run. For example, regarding feed, so far, we have relied on catched fish, while in Vietnam there is already an industry itself," said Trenggono.

Through a cooperation agreement between the two countries, Vietnamese business actors who want to take advantage of lobster clear seeds (BBL), must carry out cultivation activities in Indonesia by cooperating with local Indonesian business actors. With this scheme, there will be technology transfers to work ethic which is very important for the development of lobster cultivation in the country.
