JAKARTA - PT PP (Persero) Tbk (PTPP) collaborated with PT Mitra Murni Perkasa to carry out a port handover for the Nickel MMP Jetty Smelter Project in Kariagau, East Kalimantan. The inauguration ceremony was attended by the President Director of PT MMP Adhi Dharma Mustopo and his staff, Finance Director of PTPP Agus Purbianto along with his staff, representatives of MMS Group Indonesia, and representatives of KSOP I Balikpapan.

The Nickel MMP Jetty Smelter project has a contract value of Rp682.5 billion with a source of funds originating from PT Mitra Murni Perkasa, the first nickel smelter domestic investment company (PMDN) in Indonesia. This project has a construction period of 15 months which can be completed by PTPP on April 30, 2024 on time.

The benefits of this project are the development of a class-1 nickel smelter facility in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan which produces 27.800 tons/year nickeljare with Rotary Kiln-Electric Furnace (RKEF) technology. Nickelprime is one of the main raw materials for battery production for electric vehicles and energy storage media that are widely used in renewable power plants.

Adhi Mustopo, President Director of PT MMP, expressed his very high appreciation for PTPP for its very good and professional collaboration so that it managed to accommodate the project on time for 15 months, where this time is a relatively fast time for projects on that scale.

In addition, another thing to note is that a very good track record of work safety was successfully recorded during the port construction process. This happened thanks to the high commitment and extraordinary collaboration from both parties in working on this project. The port is considered something to be something to be proud of because it brings the MMP closer to its efforts to contribute to the mineral downstream agenda in Indonesia.

Adhi also added that ports play an important role in supporting the development of MMP in the future to realize the development of a sustainable green energy industry ecosystem.

"MMP as part of MMS Group Indonesia is always committed to sustainable business principles that are in line with the Group's vision and mission in carrying out every activity. Our operational activities are designed to be able to minimize carbon footprint as part of realizing the Net Zero Emission Indonesia 2060 program," he said, in a written statement, Monday, May 6.

In his remarks, PTPP Finance Director Agus Purbianto was proud of the performance of the project team Jetty Smelter Nickel MMP because it could hold the project completion commitment in accordance with quality standards, safety, and completion times. In addition, Agus is also grateful for the trust that has been given by the Owner of PT Mitra Murni Perkasa to PTPP.

"With the operation of the Port or Jetty of the MMP, the hope is that the operation of the Nickel Smelter can run optimally and of course the ideals of the MMS Group, specialized by MMP to assist the government's program in the green energy transition can also be carried out immediately," concluded Agus.
