JAKARTA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of the Bangka Belitung Islands Province (Babel) noted that the export value of tin and non-lead Babel Islands in April 2024 reached 127.99 million US dollars. This amount increased by 582.26 percent when compared to the previous month 18.76 million US dollars.

"The increase in exports in March this year is due to the export of lead from 86.77 million US dollars, which in the previous month there were no exports of these commodities," said Head of BPS for the Province of the Babylon Islands, Toto Haryanto Silitonga, quoting Antara.

He said the value of non-leading exports in March 2024 reached 41.22 million US dollars, an increase of 119.73 percent compared to the previous month 18.76 million US dollars.

"In March this year, tin exports returned to five destination countries, of which two months earlier there were no exports of these commodities," he said.

He stated that lead from the Province of the Babylon Islands was mostly exported to countries in Asia, where South Korea is still its main destination country.

"Throughout January to March this year, 19.21 percent of tin exports were sent to Gingseng Country," he said again.

Furthermore, India and Singapore are in the next rank. As much as 16.85 percent and 16.63 percent of tin exports were exported to the two countries. Next in line are Japan and the Netherlands.

"These five main tin export destinations play a 73.26 percent role in the total tin exports of the Bangka Belitung Islands Province throughout the world," he said again.

He stated that cumulatively January-March 2024 compared to the same period the previous year (c-to-c), there was a contraction in export growth to the 5 largest tin destination countries.

"South Korea contracted by 40.01 percent and Singapore also contracted by 32.00 percent. India is the country with the deepest contraction of up to 50.64 percent," he also said.
