Minister Of Transportation Budi Asks Saudi Arabia To Add Slot Time For Garuda Indonesia In The Hajj Season

Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi asked Saudi Arabia to give a slot time to Garuda Indonesia airlines, especially during the Hajj season.

This was conveyed by the Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi when meeting with the Minister of Hajj and Umrah of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Tawfiq Bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah at a bilateral meeting in Jakarta, Tuesday, April 30.

"(We) ask for support for Garuda Indonesia to add slot time in the Hajj season," he said in an official statement, Tuesday, April 30.

In addition, Budi also requested that Saudi Arabia move the terminal from the Hajj Terminal to Terminal 1 at Raja Abdulaziz-Jeddah International Airport.

"We believe that if this is done, this year's Hajj flights will run more smoothly," he said.

In the future, Budi hopes that cooperation between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia will not be limited to the field of aviation.

For your information, Indonesia has just signed an MoU for the two countries regarding air transportation arrangements. The signing of the MoU was carried out by the Director General of Civil Aviation, Maria Kristi Endah Murni and the Director General of Saudi Arabian Air Transportation (GACA) Aldulaziz Abdullah Al-Dualej.

In this year's security, flights from all International Airports in Saudi Arabia can land at Indonesian airports. The details are Jakarta, Surabaya, Makassar and Denpasar. On the other hand, flight routes from all International Airports in Indonesia can land in Jeddah, Riyadh, Dammam, Medina, and Taif.

Meanwhile, Minister Tawfiq also expressed his desire to increase transportation cooperation between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia, especially on Hajj and Umrah flights.

"With such a large number of Indonesian pilgrims, we welcome this new agreement and are ready to help if there are challenges ahead," he said.
