Stock Of Subsidized Fertilizer In The Country Is Safe Ahead Of The La Nina Phenomenon

JAKARTA - PT Pupuk Kalimantan Timur ensures that the stock of subsidized fertilizers for farmers in the country is safe ahead of the forecast of the La Nina phenomenon which will have an impact on increasing rainfall which is predicted to occur in July-September.Senior Vice President (SVP) Business Transformation of East Kalimantan Wisnu Ramadhani in Jakarta, Tuesday, April 30, said that currently his party has provided as many as 379,726 tons of subsidized fertilizer and 376,510 tons of non-subsidized fertilizer as of April 28, 2024, and spread throughout Indonesia. Pupuk Kaltim runs a mandate for the distribution of subsidized fertilizers in responsible areas, namely East Kalimantan, North Kalimantan and the entire Sulawesi region, while for the NPK subsidized Special Formula, covering South Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi and Southeast Sulawesi. Apart from subsidized fertilizers, East Kalimantan fertilizers are also ready to ensure the availability of non-subsidized fertilizers in warehouses from line 1 to line. last, in accordance with the needs of local farmers," he said, quoted from Antara. According to him, the availability of the fertilizer is seven times or 692 percent more than the total that must be provided ahead of the potentially La Nina rainy season.

Wisnu conveyed that the collection (building up) of fertilizer stocks was carried out because the La Nina phenomenon had the potential to make fertilizer demand high in each region.

"La Nina, which will occur in July, August, where rainfall will be high, demand for fertilizer will be high in the regions. So that we have built stock from now on. This is what is done not only Pupuk Kaltim, but also Pupuk Indonesia as a whole to ensure stocks in the regions," he said.
