JAKARTA - The Association of Indonesian Hotels and Restaurants (PHRI) Surakarta stated that the COVID-19 vaccination program has not been able to boost hotel visits in Solo.

"Incidentally, in Solo and its surrounding hotels, the vaccination program has not yet started. Maybe hotels in Semarang and Yogyakarta have just started," said Public Relations representative of PHRI Solo, Sistho A Srestho, in Solo, as quoted from Antara, Monday, March 8.

He said the condition was reasonable considering that the vaccine program was still in its early stages. In fact, he said, the number of areas that contributed to the occupancy progress of the vaccination was not comprehensive.

He noted that currently, the hotel occupancy rate in the area led by Mayor Gibran Rakabuming is still in the range of 20-30 percent. According to him, there was an increase in occupancy from January to February in line with the increase in government activities ahead of the month of Ramadan.

"Indeed, there is an increase but it is more due to an event from the government because this is the last month before Ramadan. Usually, the government tightens its events in that month," he said.

Previously, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Surakarta City recorded the room occupancy rate (TPK) of starred hotels in Solo City in January 2021 on an average of 23.20 percent. This figure as a whole has decreased by 10.91 points compared to the previous month which reached 34.11 percent.

Head of BPS Surakarta City, Totok Tavirijanto, said that the ROR was lowered in the classification of 4+ star hotels, which fell by 13.94 points. Meanwhile, the highest ROR was recorded at 27.29 percent in 2-star hotels.

"Furthermore, the lowest ROR was for 3-star hotels which only reached 17.54 percent. When compared with the same month in the previous year, the ROR for star-rated hotels in January 2021 decreased by an average of 24.61 points," he said.

The average length of stay of guests at star hotels in January 2021 reaches 1.31 nights. This figure has decreased by 0.03 points compared to the previous month which reached 1.34 nights.

"The longest average length of stay for guests at star hotels was 1.47 nights at 4+ star hotels. Meanwhile, the lowest average length of stay was at 1-star hotels, namely 1.14 nights," he said.
