Disrupt Domestic Business Climates, Ministry Of Trade Secures Concrete Bone Steel Products Not In Accordance With SNI Worth IDR 257 Billion

SERANG - The Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) through the Directorate General of Consumer Protection and Trade Order (PKTN) temporarily secured concrete steel products that did not meet the quality requirements of the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) worth Rp257 billion.

Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan said that the concrete steel products that did not meet SNI 2052:2017 were produced by PT Hwa Hok Steel, in Serang, Banten.

"From the results of special supervision carried out on March 6, 2024 by PKTN, there were 3.6 million sticks or 27,078 tons with a value of Rp257.23 billion that did not match SNI," he said in Cikande, Serang, Banten, Friday, April 26.

Security is carried out based on Article 40 of the Regulation of the Minister of Trade Number 69 of 2018 concerning the Supervision of Circulating Goods and/or Services. Referring to these regulations, steel products that are not by SNI will be destroyed.

"In accordance with the rules, it must be destroyed, therefore we are here today," he explained.

The man who is familiarly called Zulhas said the temporary security measures were taken to minimize the loss of the domestic steel industry.

"Production violates either, not in accordance with SNI. In the end, it is detrimental to domestic industries such as Krakatau Steel," he explained.

In addition, Zulhas also said that this concrete steel palm product could harm consumers in the country. The reason, he said, is that if the product is used to build roads, it can be tilted because the size is not appropriate.

"Violation of SNI is dangerous, very detrimental to consumers. The building can collapse, if the bridge can tilt the bridge, therefore we will arrange it. Apart from harming consumers, it is also detrimental to the industry," he explained
