JAKARTA - The Association of Indonesian Drinking Water Companies (Perpamsi) revealed that the 10th World Water Forum (WWF) in Bali in May this year could be a momentum for Indonesia to prepare water infrastructure to be the main priority.

Executive Director of Subekti Perpamsi in Jakarta, Tuesday, April 23, said that the water infrastructure in Indonesia is currently still lagging behind and needs to be improved regarding governance, development strategies and other important aspects in the drinking water and sanitation sector.

If this is not addressed quickly, it can hinder Indonesia from becoming a developed country by 2045, especially in the drinking water and sanitation sectors.

"This is a momentum for Indonesia to encourage improvements in governance, development strategies, and so on specifically in the drinking water sector, both piped and sanitary drinking water," said Subekti, as reported by Antara.

Perpamsi welcomes the implementation of the 10th WWF because the current water problem is an important agenda in the world and is also an important agenda for Indonesia related to improving water management.

"We welcome it because water problems are the world's agenda, and the implementation of the World Water Forum in Indonesia where in our country we are still struggling to improve water management," said Subekti.

The Indonesian government invited 43 ambassadors and 4 international organizations to participate and make WWF a success which will be held in Bali on May 18-25, 2024.

The Indonesian government targets WWF to be attended by around 30,000-50,000 participants from various countries, so that the ambassadors have an important role in socializing the forum so that more participants contribute.

Through WWF, the Government of Indonesia is committed to encouraging countries and stakeholders in the water sector around the world to place water-related issues at the peak of the global agenda.

The 10th World Water Forum will focus on four things, namely water conservation, clean water and sanitation, food and energy security (food and energy security), and mitigation of natural disasters. The implementation consists of three components, namely thematic processes, regional processes, and political processes.
