Telkomsel: Data Service Traffic Soars 12.87 Percent During Ramadan And Eid 2024

JAKARTA - Telkomsel said its broadband data service traffic rose during the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 1445 Hijri period with an increase of 12.87 percent compared to the 2024 normal day or 15.08 percent higher than the same period the previous year.

Vice President Corporate Communications & Social Responsibility of Telkomsel Ski Hamsat Bramono, Wednesday 17 April said, during the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr period in 2024, the surge in communication traffic and digital services was driven by increased customer activity at the use of digital services. These improvements include mobile gaming soaring 78.51 percent, communication services (instant messaging and video conferencing) rose 28.52 percent, video streaming grew 15.94 percent, e-commerce access rose 15.77 percent, social media access rose 14.07 percent, and browsing access grew 9.74 percent. Telkomsel also noted an increase in access activity on a number of favorite digital applications/platforms such as WhatsApp (up 40.09 percent), Instagram (up 24.51 percent), TikTok (up 17.82 percent), YouTube (up 15.28 percent), and Facebook (up 11.17 percent). Then for SMS service traffic it was recorded to fall by 10.40 percent and voice services fell by approximately 18.52 percent compared to normal days. "All digital activities of these customers contributed to the growth in data service during the RAFI 2024 moment in a number of regions compared to normal days," said Saki, reported by Antara. Telkomsel data shows five cities/district areas in Indonesia that have the highest data use traffic growth, namely Tasikmalaya Regency recorded the highest growth of 57.42 percent, followed by Cilacap Regency up approximately 55.25 percent, Ciamis Regency rose 54.48 percent, Garut Regency rose 47.11 percent, and Cirebon Regency rose 34.49 percent. This increase is in line with government predictions which predicts an increase in homecoming up to 56 percent when compared to the previous year. Telkomsel Data also shows that Tasikmalaya Regency, Garut Regency, Ciamis Regency, Ciamis Regency, and Cilacap Regency are the 5 most significant distribution regions undergoing Telkomsel customer movement.
