Peak Of Eid Backflow, KAI Records 218,579 Passengers

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) noted that the peak of the 2024 Eid backflow occurred on Sunday, April 14 with the number of long-distance train passengers as many as 218,579 passengers.

The details are 144,145 economy class passengers, 63,620 executive class passengers, 9,968 business class passengers, 762 luxury class passengers, and 84 compartment suite class passengers.

To serve passengers at the peak of Lebaran's backflow, KAI operates 256 long-distance trains. The favorite relationships of long-distance train customers at the peak of the backflow are Surabaya - Jakarta, Yogyakarta - Jakarta, Malang - Jakarta, Blitar - Jakarta, Surabaya - Bandung, and others.

KAI's VP of Public Relations Joni Martinus said the trend of backflow had been seen since Friday, April 12 where there were 214,284 long-distance train passengers and on Saturday, April 13, 215,722 passengers.

KAI predicts that the peak of backflow will still occur on Monday, April 15 where currently 193,595 long-distance train tickets are sold. This number will continue to grow because sales are still ongoing.

"We express our appreciation to all customers for entrusting this trip during the Eid holiday to KAI. All customers are also orderly and enjoy KAI services during the trip," Joni said in a statement to the media, Monday, April 15.

KAI stipulates that the 2024 Eid transportation period is March 31 (D-10) until April 21, 2024 (D+10).

Based on data monitoring on Monday, April 15, the long-distance train tickets that had been purchased during that period were 3,313,671 tickets.

KAI appealed to all customers to allocate sufficient time when heading to the departure station. This is an effort to avoid the possibility of missing the train.

"Given the density of roads that tend to increase at the moment of Eid. We remind customers to still use trains as a mainstay mode of transportation by arranging departure times from residence to departure stations," said Joni.
