Jasa Marga Predicts The Peak Of Lebaran Backflow To Occur April 15

JAKARTA - PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk predicts that the peak return flow for Eid homecoming will occur on Monday, April 15.

"The return flow period itself has a fairly short number of days when compared to the homecoming flow. This year, the peak of backflow is predicted to fall on Monday, April 15, 2024," Jasa Marga Marketing and Communication Department Head Faiza Riani said in his official statement, Friday, April 12.

In order to anticipate overcrowding on the toll road, JSMR has prepared a number of steps. One of them is by giving a 20 percent toll rate cut.

The discount will take effect on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at 05.00 WIB until Friday, April 19, 2024 at 05.00 WIB for the Trans Java Toll Road fare from Semarang to Jakarta. This discount is only for the origin of the Kalikangkung GT to Cikampek Utama GT.

Faiza assessed that people can shift their return flow travel at the time of the enactment of toll rates. This is solely to avoid congestion at that momentum.

"To avoid the accumulation of vehicles, we urge the public to also avoid traveling at their favorite times, namely morning and evening," he said.

In addition, the public is also advised to travel back to Jabotabek early before the predicted time becomes the peak of backflow.

"Or for those who have time to shift their travel time and at the same time take advantage of a 20 percent toll rate cut," he added.

Meanwhile, JSMR noted, as many as 1,764,561 vehicles left the Jabotabek area in the period 3-11 April 2024.

This figure is the cumulative traffic flow (traffic) of the four Main Toll Gates (GT), namely Cikupa GT (direction to Merak), Ciawi GT (direction to Puncak), Cikampek Utama GT (direction to Trans Java) and Kalihurip Utama GT (direction to Bandung).

The total volume of traffic leaving the Jabotabek area increased by 46 percent when compared to normal traffic (from 1,208,565 vehicles). When compared to the Lebaran 2023 period, the total volume of this traffic was 0.4 percent (of 1,758,263 vehicles).

Jasa Marga urges the public to ensure travel readiness, including ensuring that the condition of the driver and vehicle is in prime condition and roadworthy, preparing supplies and ensuring sufficient fuel and electronic money balance.

Comply with signs and directions from officers in the field and always be disciplined in terms of driving on toll roads. Use time wisely by not lingering in the rest area so that you can alternate with other road users.
