43 Additional Terrealized Flight Schedules At Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali

The surge in passengers during the Lebaran homecoming period made I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali more busy. In the first four days of the 2024 homecoming flow, 43 additional flights were realized with domestic routes.

This number reached 14 percent of the total submissions. This was conveyed by General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Handy Heryudhitiawan.

"The realization of the total extra flights throughout the entire April 3-6 transportation post has reached 43 flights, so approximately 14 percent of the total submissions," Handy said, as quoted by Antara.

Handy in Badung Regency, Sunday, said that the application for extra flights for this domestic route continued to increase, from 216 to 282, and now it has reached 299 submissions.

"This continues to increase because it is dynamic, so we are always open, usually if airlines see an overbooked route it means there is an opportunity," he said.

Since the beginning of receiving the proposal, there have been five airlines that want to add flights at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in the Eid al-Fitr period from April 3-18.

The airlines are Indonesia Air Asia, Citilink Indonesia, Lion Air, Super Air Jet, and Wings Air, with the most wanted routes, namely Cengkareng Jakarta, Surabaya, Makassar, Solo, Yogyakarta, and Lombok.

At the peak of today's homecoming flow, Handy has not recorded the realization of each airline that has proposed an addition, but from temporary coordination there are 11 extra flights.

It is known that of the total planned extra flights, generally only 50 percent have been realized, but the airport has not been confirmed for this year because the surge in passengers has passed the prediction.

Handy said that from the start he predicted that on the fourth day of homecoming the total number of air transportation users served was 65,000, but the realization was higher, reaching 72,402 passengers.

The situation on Saturday (6/4) showed movement that exceeded predictions, even in a day it was realized 19 extra flights, so that at its peak today it is also expected to exceed the estimate.

"Well, today we plan to estimate 68,899 passengers as seen from previous ticket reservations and projections, our estimate will be higher than that estimate from the prediction of 68,000 estimates to 74 thousand," he said.

Regarding additional flights and the congestion situation at the airport's domestic terminal, Handy has not said whether this condition affects flight delays.

Currently, I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport is still recording flight delays, but what is certain is that according to Handy, delays can occur due to weather factors from other airports because they are influenced by each other.

The airport itself currently has a Eid transportation post, so that if passengers experience problems, they can approach the command post which is open 24 hours a day.
