Eid 2024 Transportation Post Officially Opened, Minister Of Transportation Highlights Overcrowding Crucial Points

JAKARTA - Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi officially opened the 2024 Eid Transportation Center Post. This post will take place from today until April 18.

Budi said the existence of this post was to ensure the flow and facilitate cross-sectoral coordination in the implementation of Eid homecoming transportation.

"We will collaborate with this post. This place will actually provide land, sea and air information, as well as ASDP. Every day we do Quick Count and communicate randomly with relevant stakeholders (TNI, Polri, transportation operators, and other related elements)," Budi said when opening the Eid Transportation Center Post, at the Ministry of Transportation, Jakarta, Wednesday, April 3.

Budi revealed that the potential for national movement during this year's Eid homecoming period reached 193.6 million people. This number increased compared to last year's 2023.

Furthermore, Budi said the Ministry of Transportation together with relevant stakeholders had taken steps to anticipate the increase in community movements during the 2024 Eid homecoming period.

"What I want to emphasize first is that all elements understand the same perception of controlling and implementing in the field. Supervision and approach must be carried out firmly but humanely," he said.

Three Congestion Points

On this occasion, Minister of Transportation Budi also highlighted three points that have the potential to experience a high level of homecoming density during the Lebaran 2024 homecoming period.

On the land route or toll road, continued Budi, the highest density will occur on the Cikopo-Palimanan (Cipali) route which connects West Java and Central Java.

Meanwhile, on the sea crossing route, Budi highlighted Merak Port in Banten, and Ketapang Port, Banyuwangi in East Java.

Budi also hopes that the implementation of homecoming can run safely and comfortably. He admitted that he also continued to encourage strong collaboration and communication between stakeholders.
