Eid Al-Fitr Homecoming 2024, Garuda Indonesia Group Proposes 570 Extra Flight

JAKARTA - Garuda Indonesia Group has submitted 570 requests for extra flights or additional flights for the Eid al-Fitr or Eid al-Fitr 2024 period.

President Director of Garuda Indonesia Irfan Setiaputra said that the request for extra flights was not only for Garuda Indonesia, but also for Citilink Indonesia as a subsidiary.

The details, said Irfan, 170 extra flights for Garuda Indonesia. While the rest, around 400 extra flights for the subsidiary, Citilink Indonesia.

"Until now we have submitted around 570 extra flights. It should be okay and all the administration has been done. Hopefully there will be no problems," he said in a media briefing in Jakarta, Monday, April 1.

Irfan said that some extra flights or additional flights were submitted on favorite routes not only domestically but also internationally.

"Favorite, so Denpasar, Padang, Surabaya, Medan, and Singapore," he said.

Especially for flights to the Padang area, Irfan said he would continue to monitor the condition of Mount Marapi during the Lebaran 2024 homecoming period.

"It's just that we have a special note regarding the weather. Hopefully Padang won't be too much affected because Marapi likes coughing. While it should be under control," he explained.

Irfan also said that his party had no plans to open new routes. Instead of opening routes, Irfan admitted that he would focus on increasing flight frequency.

"We will focus more on increasing frequency. In the country, there are indeed several routes that are being asked for us to fly, but while Citilink is flown like Kediri, Citilink's plan on the 5th will make its inaugural flight," he explained.

Furthermore, Irfan said specifically for domestic flights, there are several routes that will be reproduced using wide-body aircraft.

"So we will increase the Airbus, especially towards Balikpapan, Balikpapan is getting more and more crowded because of IKN. Balikpapan may later add flights, see the situation of additional aircraft," he said.

"Plus plans international routes that are currently not every day, we will fly them every day. Especially to Japan from Jakarta," he said.
