KAI Adds 49 Long-distance Train Trips In Long Weekend Holidays For The Death Of Jesus Christ

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI added 49 long-distance train (KA) trips to anticipate a surge in passengers during the long weekend of the Death Holiday of Jesus Christ. The total train to be operated is 924.

Meanwhile, KAI has set a long holiday period or long weekend from Thursday, March 28 to Sunday, March 31.

KAI's VP of Public Relations Joni Martinus said KAI would operate 924 long-distance trains, or an average of 231 train trips during the long holiday period.

"There were an additional 49 long-distance train trips operating compared to the previous week, namely Thursday, March 21 to Sunday, March 24 as many as 875 long-distance trains," he said in an official statement, Wednesday, March 27.

Joni explained that the additional frequency of train travel was intended to anticipate an increase in customer volume during the long holiday at the end of March 2024. This period also has the potential to be used by people to go home to their hometowns long before Eid.

"This increase in the number of train trips is part of KAI's commitment to improve services to customers, especially during high seasons like this long weekend," said Joni.

Based on observations on Wednesday, March 27 afternoon, the total train tickets sold on Thursday, March 28, were 76,281 tickets. The number of tickets sold increased by 14 percent compared to the previous week, where on Thursday, March 21, the number of tickets sold was 67,039 tickets.

"The number of tickets sold for departure this Thursday, March 28 will still increase because sales are still ongoing," he said.

The update on the number of tickets sold for the period Thursday, March 28 to Sunday, March 31, was 274,769 tickets or 45 percent of the total tickets provided as many as 606,432 tickets.

"Prospective customers who want to use the train on this long weekend but don't have a ticket, can immediately buy it either through the Access by KAI application, the kai.id website, or other channels that work with KAI," he said.

If the desired ticket runs out, continued Joni, customers can choose an alternative date and route or take advantage of the Connecting Train feature in the Access by KAI application which will help provide travel options by combining a connecting train schedule.

Joni added that so far the favorite routes for the people during the long weekend period are Jakarta-Surabaya pp, Jakarta-Solo pp, Yogyakarta-Banyuwangi pp, Bandung-Blitar pp, Surabaya-Banyuwangi pp, and other relations.
