JAKARTA - The Association of Indonesian Food and Beverage Producers (Gapmmi) is optimistic that the food and beverage industry (mamin) will increase during Eid 2024.

Head of Gapmmi Adhi S. Lukman estimates that there will be an increase in the food and beverage industry by up to 30 percent during this momentum.

"My estimate is that this year's Eid can increase by 30 percent above the monthly average. From observations in the field, I am optimistic that it will be better than last year," said Adhi to VOI, Wednesday, March 27.

Adhi assessed that this growth was also driven by the flow of people's movements which are predicted to reach more than 190 million people during this year's Eid homecoming.

"Moreover, based on data from the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) it is estimated that the number of travelers will reach 195 million people. Of course, this is expected to increase food consumption," he said.

He added that there are several food and beverage sectors that will become people's favorites during the momentum of Ramadan and ahead of Eid al-Fitr 2024, such as pluses, nata de coco, collang-kaling, biscuits and others.

"During Lebaran, biscuits and drink categories will be good for sales," said Adhi.

Furthermore, Adhi also projects that the growth of the food and beverage industry in 2024 could reach 5 percent on an annual basis or year on year (yoy).

"The estimated (growth of the food and beverage industry) is 5 percent yoy or (higher than 2023) which is only 4 percent less," he added.
