JAKARTA - PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG), an infrastructure cluster BUMN company, is committed to preserving the environment by carrying out post-mining land restoration in the form of tree planting or revegation at the Tuban Factory, East Java. The company noted that an area of 238.64 hectares of post-mining land in the Tuban Factory GIS has been reclamationd with the planting of 503,466 trees. There are more than 10 types of trees that have been planted in that location, including teak trees, klompis, Trambesi, johar, flamboyan, eucalyptus, mahooni, sengon buto, oranges, nyemplung, banyan, to palmo kecik. "The selection of types of trees planted on the post-mining land of the Tuban Factory's GIS is also carried out based on its benefits, such as trambesi trees, mahonies, banyans, and teaks that have the ability to absorb good greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions," said SIG Corporate Secretary Vita Mahreyni in a written statement, quoted Tuesday, March 26. Vita said that post-mining land revegement is GIS's effort to restore land function and increase its benefits in a sustainable manner. In addition, these efforts are also aimed at protecting biodiversity in the area around the Tuban Factory. According to the company, the Tuban Factory GIS also has a Bukit Daun array on the post-mining land that stores a collection of rare plants. Some of these plants include damar (agathis dammara), ulin (eusyderoxylon zwageri), gaharu (aquilian malaccensis), kurma (phoenix). dactylifaera), and kawista (limonia acidissima). This area which is a means of educational tourism and research facilities is also a habitat for avifauna diversity such as rice standoffs, measurable, cucak kutilang,cipoh glass, and takur ungkut-ungkut. Not only that, the Tuban Factory GIS also built the Kambangsemi Ecopark area as a means of community empowerment. According to the company, the move made innovative breakthroughs in post-mining land management. The program empowerment carried out starting from cavendish banana plantations, oilwood plantations and milling areas, green houses, livestock areas (le, laying hens and goats), tilapia floating cages, Bale Kriya (workshop paving stone, pots, interlocked bricks), to ground camping. Vita said, Ecopark Kambangsemi is an environmental and social innovation that is in line with the spirit ofIG sustainability as regulated in the GIS Sustainability Roadmap 2030. The innovation is expected can maintain the alignment between the company's business processes and environmental sustainability and community development, which is GIS's commitment to supporting the achievement of sustainable development goals or SDGs.

Vita mengungkapkan bahwa inovasi lingkungan dan sosial yang dijalankan telah membawa SIG Pabrik Tuban meraih penghargaan dari Kementerian Lingkungan Hidup dan Kehutanan (KLHK), yaitu Program Penilaian Peringkat Kinerja Perusahaan Dalam Pengelolaan Lingkungan atau PROPER Emas Tahun 2023.Selain di Pabrik Tuban, SIG juga telah melakukan reklamasi di seluruh kawasan tambang melalui anak usaha dan unit usahanya meliputi PT Semen Gresik di Rembang, PT Semen Padang, PT Semen Tonasa, PT Semen Baturaja Tbk, PT Pendawa Lestari Perkasa di Pasuruan, PT Solusi Bangun Beton di Maloko, serta PT Solusi Bangun Indonesia Tbk di Narogong, Cilacap, Tuban, dan Lhoknga. Secara keseluruhan, SIG telah mereklamasi lahan pascatambang seluas 488,44 hektare hingga tahun 2023.
