High Rainfall, RMKE Records 36.4 Percent Growth In Coal Production Volume

JAKARTA - PT RMK Energy Tbk recorded a growth in coal sales volume by 36.4 yoy.

The company continues to record positive growth amid very high rainfall in the operational area and suppresses coal mining production in the first quarter of this year.

RMKE can still sell 608.8K MT coal until the February 2024 period, or increase compared to the same period last year of 446.2K MT coal.

Production of in-house and third-parties mines sequentially contributed 20 percent and 80 percent of the total volume of coal sales.

The Company's Director of Operations, William Saputra, said that coal sales are still dominated by the export market with a contribution of 58 percent of the total volume of coal sales.

"Until the February 2024 period, the coal sales segment has reached 17.4 percent of the company's target this year," he said in a statement to the media, Tuesday, March 19.

Meanwhile, from the coal service segment, the company managed to load 154 barges with a total volume of 1.2 million MT of coal until the February 2024 period or decreased by 19.2 percent yoy.

In the same period, the Company has dismantled the 521 train set with a total unloading volume of 1.3 million MT of coal or a decrease of 38.7 percent yoy.

"The performance of the coal service segment is quite affected by very high rainfall by the decline in coal production from mines in South Sumatra," he said.

However, RMKE can still maintain on-time performance (OTP) for train unloading until February 2024 18 minutes faster to 3:15 hours per train compared to train unloading time in the same period last year of 3:33 hours.

Seasonally, he said, coal production in the first quarter of 2024 did tend to be small, but in the future production has the potential to increase in the second semester of this year.

"The biggest challenge in the first quarter of this year is very high rainfall," added William.
