IDX Will Issue 15 Series Of Single Stock Futures In The Second Quarter Of 2024

JAKARTA - PT Bursa Efek Indonesia (IDX) will issue 15 series of derivative products, namely Single Stock Futures (SSF), as early as April or May 2024, to complement derivative products that already exist in the Indonesian capital market.

"Our initial target is in December 2023. However, because the market is not ready yet, it is not too familiar, it has been postponed. After more thorough preparation, hopefully we can launch it one or two months from now," said the Head of the IDX's 1 Business Development Division, Firza Rizqi Putra, in the Education of Capital Market Journalists in Jakarta, as reported by Antara, Friday, March 15.

He explained that the 15 series came from five underlying shares which were LQ45 constituents, including PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BBCA), PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBRI), PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (TLKM), PT Astra International Tbk (ASII), and PT Merdeka Copper Gold Tbk (MDKA).

"With each contract period, namely 1 month, 2 months, and 3 months," said Firza.

From the socialization and education carried out, Firza said that Exchange Members (AB) welcomed the presence of SSF positively in line with the increase in transactions in the SSF mechanism.

According to him, this trading mechanism, which is similar to stocks, will make it easier for existing investors to transact SSFs, because the capital or funds needed to invest are much cheaper.

On the same occasion, IDX Development Director Jeffrey Hendrik explained, SSF is an agreement or contract between the two parties to sell or buy a stake in the future at a predetermined price.

"Unlike other IDX derivative products based on stock indexes and state debt securities, the effect that underlies SSF is shares," said Jeffrey.

He said SSF also has the lowest number of contract units compared to other derivative products, so the capital investors need to be able to start investing in SSF is smaller.
