CIREBON - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Operational Area (Daop) 3 Cirebon, West Java, noted that the number of passengers departing from all stations in its area increased by 130 percent during the long holiday of Nyepi Day 2024.

Public Relations Manager of PT KAI Daop 3 Cirebon Rokhmad Makin Zainul said the most dominant passenger surge occurred on Tuesday, March 12 afternoon, with a total of 7,009 people or higher than normal days, which only ranged from 2,000-2,500 passengers.

"The backflow of the long holiday occurred today with passenger departures from Daop 3 Cirebon reaching 7,009 passengers," said Zainul, quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday.

He explained that the increase was due to the end of the long holiday period, so the majority of train service users chose to travel to their area of origin today.

Zainul explained that the average passenger departing from all stations in Daop 3 Cirebon headed to Jakarta and partly to Surabaya and Jember.

"This is the last series of long holidays. So they chose to travel at this time," he said.

According to him, overall during the long holiday transportation period on March 8-12 2024, the total number of passengers departing at Daop 3 Cirebon reached 29,702 people.

Then, he said that for those who fell during that period, the number was recorded at 30,105 passengers from various regions.

According to him, the large number of passengers shows that people still rely on trains as a mode of transportation for long-distance travel.

Especially during the period of leave with Nyepi Day 2024 which coincided with the beginning of Ramadan 1445 Hijri.

"So during this long holiday in Daop 3 Cirebon, passengers have been crowded. The total is either 59,807 passengers who go down or go up," he said.

He emphasized that PT KAI is committed to continuing to improve services and facilities for passengers, so that they feel comfortable and safe when traveling by train.

After a long holiday, he added, in the near future Daop 3 Cirebon is preparing to face a surge in passengers during the 2024 Eid homecoming transportation season.

"We will continue to improve services for passengers so that they remain impressed using rail transportation services. For Lebaran tickets, people can buy them at all official KAI services because the number is still available," concluded Zainul.
