Trenggono: Until Now, Lobster Seed Exports Are Still Closed

JAKARTA - Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono emphasized that he still prohibits the export of lobster clear seeds (BBL). Where, until now there has been no change in the rules regarding this matter.

"Until today (exports) are still closed. But we have seen that lobster cultivation in Vietnam, the seeds are 100 percent from Indonesia. What is strange is that we have closed through Ministerial Regulation Number 17, but how come there production continues," said Trenggono quoting Antara.Avoiding state losses and the threat of damage to the ecosystem as a result of illegal exports of fry, he took the initiative to carry out diplomacy with the Vietnamese government. Diplomacy lobbying finally resulted in marine and fisheries cooperation between Indonesia and Vietnam which was signed some time ago. Trenggono explained, fisheries cooperation became a way of entry of lobster cultivation investment in Indonesia by Vietnamese business actors. Through this collaboration, there will be technology transfer and knowledge of lobster cultivation for cultivators in the country. The cooperation of two countries as well as to suppress illegal practices of exporting fry that have proven to cost the state up to trillions of rupiah per year. "That is, we then try to cooperate with the Vietnamese government. Illegal, unlawfully, unreported, unregulated fishing (ille fishing, not reported and not according to the rules/IUUF) it is not only fishing vessels entering the country we take fish, smuggling BBL also includes illegal fishing. We also convey this to the international level," he also said.

Through lobster cultivation cooperation with the Vietnamese government, Trenggono is optimistic that Indonesia can become part of the world's lobster supplier in the future. "We can also be part of the global supply chain. So it's like don't just enjoy it, we'll also get it, as long as the fry are from us, how do we collaborate. One of them is, that's why we invite us to invest here," he concluded. For information, the KKP is currently drafting a policy plan related to the management of lobster clear seeds in Indonesia. This regulation aims to encourage the productivity of national lobster cultivation by cooperating with countries that have succeeded in carrying out the commodity cultivation.
