The Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) stated that it had carried out a feasibility and operational inspection (ramp check) of 964 railway facilities ahead of the Eid Al-Fitr 1445 Hijri homecoming flow.

"To update the number of train facilities that have been inspected or ramp checks as of March 2, 2024, there are 964 railway facilities that have faced passenger transportation of the Eid homecoming flow later," said Director General of Railways at the Ministry of Transportation Risal Wasal, quoted from Antara, in Jakarta, Wednesday, March 6.

Risal detailed the 964 railway facilities, namely 851 train units, were pulled by locomotives; 52 units of diesel rail trains (KRD), namely trains that have their own drivers using diesel motor resources; and 61 units of electric rail trains (KRL) covering the South Sumatra LRT (Sumsel) and the Jogja-Solo KRL.

"So the details of the facilities that have been checked are the train being pulled by a locomotive of 851 units, KRD 52 units, and 61 KRL Jogja Solo and South Sumatra LRT," he said.

Then, there are 102 locomotives, namely the head of the train that pulled the carriage of the train which had been checked for feasibility.

"Currently, ramp checks or inspection of facilities are still ongoing until March 22, 2024," said Risal.

He said that so far the process of examining railway facilities has not experienced any obstacles that have the potential to disrupt train operations. All facilities examined show the feasibility of operating in the 2024 Eid homecoming and reverse services.

"It is hoped that this inspection of facilities can improve the safety of train travel, especially from the aspect of railway facilities," said Risal.
