Two International Airports In Central Java Do Not Have Flights Abroad

JAKARTA - Assistant for Economics and Development of the Central Java Regional Secretariat, Sujarwanto Dwiatmoko, said that two international airports in the province do not yet have regular flights to and from abroad directly.

According to Sujarwanto in Semarang, Tuesday, March 5, the two airports that have international status are Ahmad Yani Airport in Semarang and Adi Soemarmo Airport in Surakarta.

"Because the status is international, we really want the two airports to be used for international flights," he said, as reported by Antara.

The Central Java Provincial Government has encouraged international direct flights to the two airports, but have not yet been provided.

Menurut dia, wisatawan mancanegara banyak datang melalui Bandara Internasional Yogyakarta yang kemudian juga menikmati destinasi-destinasi tujuan wisata di Jawa Tengah.

Meanwhile, the Central Java Statistics Agency (BPS) noted that of the six airports spread across various regions in this province, only two airports served passenger arrivals and departures, namely Semarang and Surakarta Airports.

Head of Central Java BPS Dadang Hardiwan said the arrival of passengers through the two airports during January 2024 was recorded at 122,636 people.

Of these, he continued, there were 1,293 international flight passengers with the aim of Jeddah.

The direct flight to Saudi Arabia from Surakarta Airport is only to serve Umrah pilgrims with a scheduled departure every weekend.

As for the arrival of airplane passengers during January 2024, it was recorded that there were 114,128 passengers with 1,057 Umrah pilgrims from Jeddah.
