BTN Changes Logo, Minister Of PUPR Alludes To Lowering Mortgage Interest

JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono said the change in the logo of PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk or BTN must also be accompanied by a change in attitude.

BTN, continued Basuki, must provide breakthroughs and changes in serving the needs of the community. One of them is by lowering the interest on home ownership loans (KPR).

"You have to show a change in attitude, to be more alert and efficient. This means that non-subsidized mortgages must be lowered. If they cannot be lowered, nonsense changes BTN," said Basuki in the 74th anniversary of BTN, at Gelora Bung Karno (GBK), Jakarta, Sunday, March 3.

"With this logo change, there is a change in attitude, not just a logo, later the attitude will remain," he continued.

Previously reported, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) requested that PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk help overcome the housing backlog problem. BTN was also asked to continue to innovate.

The housing backlog is the condition of the gap between the number of houses being built and the number of houses needed by the people. This means that the quantity of houses that have not been or are not handled.

Furthermore, Jokowi also wants at the age of 74 this year BTN to be able to synergize and collaborate to create more modern customer services.

"I would like to wish you a happy 74th birthday. I encourage BTN to continue to innovate, digitize, synergize and collaborate to create modern and sophisticated customer service, and help solve housing backlog problems in Indonesia," said Jokowi via video broadcast on the 74th Anniversary of BTN, at Gelora Bung Karno (GBK), Jakarta, Sunday, March 3.

Meanwhile, based on the 2020 census, the number of housing backlogs in Indonesia reached 12.7 million families, of which 57 percent of the total backlog or 7.28 million families are low-income groups (MBR).
