Minister Of Transportation Budi Offers Singapore To Invest In Building MRT TOD

Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi offered Singapore to invest in building transit-oriented development (TOD) areas in synergy with MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) in Jakarta.

Budi made this offer during a meeting with Singapore's Transport Minister Chee Hong Tat, Tuesday, February 20.

Furthermore, Budi said that Singapore has succeeded in building an MRT-integrated TOD area. This can be a positive point if Singapore wants to invest in Indonesia

"We offer Singapore to invest in building a TOD area in synergy with mass public transportation in Jakarta and other cities in Indonesia. The development of TOD in Jakarta still has a great opportunity to develop, just like in Singapore," he said in an official statement, Jakarta, Tuesday, February 20.

Budi also said that Indonesia welcomes Singapore's initiative to overcome flight emissions and reduce carbon emissions from airport operations.

Singapore decided to charge aircraft retribution starting in 2026 for all passengers flying from Singapore. This fee will be used to support the use of environmentally friendly aircraft fuel.

We discuss the possibility of collaborating in the construction of avtur replacement refineries, which are more environmentally friendly, in Indonesian territory. That way, Indonesia will participate in overcoming carbon emissions from flights," he said.
