JAKARTA - PLN Nusantara Power has accelerated the construction of a Floating Solar Power Plant (PLTS) for Batam Trambesi by signing an Electricity Sale and Purchase Agreement (PJBTL) with PLN Batam. Later, this PLTS will have a capacity of 46 MWp and built on a Bembesi Reservoir which has an area of 864 hectares.

PLN Nusantara Power cooperates with PT TBS Energi Utama Tbk in working on this project. This renewable project is one of the PLN NP projects in realizing Net Zero Emission in 2060. This project is worth IDR 481 billion rupiah and will complete the first construction in December 2024, and will then be completed in December 2025.

Director of Corporate Planning and Business Development of PT PLN (Persero) Hartanto Wibowo also witnessed the signing process. According to him, the Tembesan Floating PLTS is expected to be a catalyst in attracting foreign investment to Batam Island, strengthening the local economy and sustainable energy infrastructure.

"The main title in reducing carbon emissions is the construction of renewables. PLN has the capability to present environmentally friendly plants such as the Cirata Floating PLTS, which is the largest PLTS in Southeast Asia," Hartanto said as quoted on Tuesday, February 13.

PLN NP President Director Ruly Firmansyah who directly signed this agreement at the head office of PT PLN (Persero) said that this project was a pilot for the development of EBT plants outside Java. According to him, to encourage the energy transition, the development of new and renewable Energy (EBT) plants must be carried out immediately throughout the archipelago.

"After successfully inaugurating the Cirata Floating PLTS, we want to replicate similar projects in several other reservoirs throughout Indonesia. This Tembesan Floating PLTS is one of them and is working with PT TBS Energi Utama," explained Ruly.

Ruly said that PLN NP cooperated with PT TBS Energi Utama (Tbk) in working on this project with a 51 percent ownership scheme owned by PLN NP and 49 percent owned by PT TBS Energi.
