JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) through the Director General of Oil and Gas Tutuka Ariadji said that the current fluctuations in world oil prices could increase the price of non-subsidized RI fuel next month.

According to Tutuka, with the current conflict in the Middle East, world oil prices continue to fluctuate in prices, allowing for an increase in non-subsidized fuel prices.

"The overall trend goes up, even though it goes up and down and down, the trend goes up," said Tutuka when met at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Building, Monday, February 12.

Tutuka added that the raw miny distribution and logistics problems faced in the East are the main factors for business entities to raise oil prices in March 2024.

"This depends on the problem in the Middle East, so that makes the logistics system disrupted," continued Tutuka.

However, Tutuka ensured that the price of the Pertalite Special Assignment Fuel Type (JBKP) would not change in the near future because it still received subsidies from the government.

Tutuka further said, apart from geopolitical conflicts in the Middle East, another factor that affects non-subsidized fuel price fluctuations is the demand for oil imports by China, which is one of the largest consumers of crude oil in the world.

Previously, Tutuka explained, China had reduced its crude oil imports but then increased its imports in line with the high demand for crude oil.

"China is big. So China is now if it is fulfilled so it will affect the price. So China's keemarin didn't really need (oil imports), but the locals needed it again. So there was a tendency to go up there," concluded Tutuka.
