Kadin Hopes That The Political Year Will Not Have A Negative Impact On The Economy

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry hopes that the situation will remain conducive during the political year, so as not to have a negative impact on the national economy considering the global economy is still weak.

"Of course we hope that the political situation will be conducive, because it is the key to our success in the future. The global economy is now in a bad situation," said the Daily Executive (Plh) Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Yukki Nugrahawan, quoting Antara.

He said that the world economy was being depressed due to supply chains being disrupted due to various geopolitical conflicts that occurred. Not only Indonesia, this situation also affects the economies of various major countries in the world, such as China, the United States, and Europe.

To reduce the negative impact of the current global economic conditions, he hopes that whoever the elected president will be able to reduce the gap in society by developing added value from incoming foreign investments.

"So, the biggest homework for future leaders is to reduce the gap by how investment can have added value, benefit the environment, and involve national business actors," said Yukki.

He stated that the welfare of national business actors, especially MSMEs, needs to be considered. According to him, the Indonesian economy has been able to survive the various global economic crises so far, because of these small and medium enterprises.

"So it needs to be considered how to get this micro and medium enterprise to advance to class, while large efforts are encouraged to enter the global market," he also said.

In order for MSMEs to advance to class, Kadin hopes that future Indonesian leaders will prioritize domestic products to be absorbed by government spending.

Mariki also encourages increased inclusion and collaboration between various parties and sectors to face every change and challenge.

The World Bank projects global economic growth to slow down and only reach 2.4 percent by 2024.
