JAKARTA - Garuda Indonesia's national airline will launch a new Jakarta-Doha pp route in April. The launch of this route is a joint initiation between Garuda Indonesia and Qatar Airways.

President Director of Garuda Indonesia, Irfan Setiaputra, said that the operation of this new route will provide more choices for service users as well as support the development of sustainable tourism for Indonesia and Qatar.

Irfan also said that the opening of this new route is part of an effort to strengthen network development strategies through optimizing international flight routes that have the potential to bring passenger traffic to Indonesia.

"The national airline Garuda Indonesia starting April 4, 2024 will soon operate the Jakarta-Doha pp flight route," he said in an official statement, Tuesday, February 6.

The operation of the flight route is also aligned with codeshare cooperation explored with Qatar Airways where flight tickets can be accessed starting today, Tuesday, February 6.

Through this new Garuda flight and codeshare partnership, passengers can enjoy a more diverse connection that we also strengthen with the commitment to improve service quality and added value that service users can enjoy such as check-in services, priority boarding and baggage-check operations.

Irfan said flights on the Jakarta-Doha route will be served once a day using the B777-300ER fleet which has a capacity of 393 passengers with a configuration of 26 business class seats and 367 economy class seats.

"A direct flight to Doha will be served with GA 900 departing from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport at 18.20 WIB and will arrive at Hamad International Airport at 23.00 LT," he explained.

Meanwhile, flights to Jakarta departed with a GA 901 flight from Hamad International Airport at 02.25 LT and will arrive at Soekarno Hatta International Airport at 15.00 WIB.

Irfan said the launch of the flight route from Jakarta-Doha also represents the closeness of bilateral relations between Indonesia and Qatar and aims to strengthen economic cooperation between the two countries.

Furthermore, Irfan said this flight is also in line with the high demand for direct flights between Jakarta and Doha, and it is hoped that it will not only provide wider preferences for Garuda Indonesia passengers to be able to enjoy the Qatar Airways flight network.

"There is a strong business, tourism and culture bond between Indonesia and Qatar, and we hope that the presence of this flight route will further improve bilateral relations between the two countries as well as offer easier access for tourists from Qatar to Indonesia, which is now one of the countries with the fastest economic growth in the world," he said.
