Many Students Are Trapped In Pinjol, Pegadaian Prepares Solutions: One Of Them Saves IDR 15,000 Gold Per Day

JAKARTA - PT Pegadaian (Persero) offers solutions for students who have difficulty paying their tuition bills. Moreover, recently social media was enlivened with a tuition payment scheme through online loans (pinjol).

President Director of Pegadaian Damar Latri Setiawan said that his party has a Gadai Peduli program, namely interest-free loan services for pawn transactions.

"Students who pawn at Pegadaian are free if they are below Rp. 1 million. Sometimes Rp. 1 million, sometimes Rp. 2 million depending on the situation," Damar said at a press conference in Jakarta, February 6.

Damar said Pegadaian also provides education for students to start saving gold from the smallest nominal. According to Damar, Pegadaian opened gold savings from a nominal value of IDR 15,000.

"It's okay to save Rp. 15,000 a day. We educate. Instead of you, it's better to save gold. When he needs it, he can get a loan without interest," explained Damar.

Another solution offered is that students can become pawn community agents, which currently has 200 thousand agents in all of Indonesia.

By becoming a community agent, students only need to bring 1 Hajj customer and will get a fee of IDR 250 thousand.

"Imagine (carrying) 25 people he can already pay SPP one semester. That's very interesting," concluded Damar.
