JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Oil and Gas Company from Italy, ENI.
The signing was carried out by the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources ENI's Chief Operating Officer (COO), Guido Brusco, at the Chairul Saleh Building of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and witnessed by the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif.
Arifin said that the signing between the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and ENI was a follow-up to the visit of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources to the ENI office in Italy on January 21-24, 2024.
This collaboration, continued Arifin, is one of the acceleration efforts to achieve the Net Zero Emission (NZE) target in Indonesia by 2060 or sooner.
"With this MoU, it is hoped that ENI can help decarbonization programs in Indonesia and strengthen cooperation between ENI and Indonesia," said Arifin, Friday, February 2.
The MoU contains an intention between the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and ENI regarding the development of bio-feedstock to produce biofuels, nature-based and technology-based carbon offsets as well as other initiatives related to energy transitions and decarbonization, including and not limited to the Carbon Capture Storage/Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage (CCS/CCUS) program and energy efficiency.
