The Jabodebek LRT Officially Becomes A National Railway Vital Object

JAKARTA - The Jabodebek Light Rail Transit (LRT) has been officially designated as a list of Railway National Vital Objects (Obvitnas), based on the Decree of the Directorate General of Railways of the Ministry of Transportation Number: KP- DJKA 5 of 2024 dated January 8, 2024 concerning Determination of Land Transportation Vital Objects for Railway Light Rail Transit Jabodebek PT KAI (Persero).

The Manager of Public Relations of the Jabodebek LRT, Mahendro Trang Bawono in Jakarta on Monday, January 29, explained that the process of determining the Jabodebek LRT as Obvitnas has been prepared since October last year.

This determination has gone through various strict stages ranging from examining documents, discussing, to field verification by relevant stakeholders, including the Directorate of Railway Safety, and involving the Indonesian National Police.

"As a mode of rail transportation with modern technology, the Jabodebek LRT certainly has a strategic role and impact for its users," said Mahendro, quoted from Antara.

According to him, the presence of the Jabodebek LRT in addition to having an impact on its users, of course, also has an impact on the country in the economic, social and cultural fields.

In addition, the Jabodebek LRT is also considered an important asset for the state, so security certainty is needed in carrying out its function as a modern transportation system in Indonesia.

With the stipulation of the Jabodebek LRT as Obvitnas, the implementation of security will be carried out based on the principles of internal security and provisions in laws and regulations in the field of railways and guidelines for securing national vital objects.

"As a rail transportation system with the first automatic steering in Indonesia, security is needed for stations, office buildings and depots, lanes, and other operational facilities so that the Jabodebek LRT can operate properly. Determination as a vital national object is important to protect the assets of the nation and state," said Mahendro.

Furthermore, Mahendro also invited the public to participate in guarding the Jabodebek LRT.

According to him, the community has an important role in the sustainability of the Jabodebek LRT, including taking part in maintaining security by not carrying out vandalism and reporting proactively if they know about things that have the potential to disrupt security around the Jabodebek LRT operational area.
