Ministry Of Industry Sets PT Semen Gresik Factory In Rembang As A National Vital Object For Industry

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenperin RI) has set a factory operated by a subsidiary of PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG), namely PT Semen Gresik which is located in Rembang, as a National Vital Object (Obvitnas) for Industrial Affairs. This stipulation is contained in the Decree of the Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia Number 4783 of 2023 on November 16, 2023.

The factory PT Semen Gresik in Rembang was designated as Obvitnas because it was considered to have contributed positively in meeting important needs for people's welfare or mastering the lives of many people, and playing a role in increasing or producing added value of strategic natural resources.

SIG Corporate Secretary, Vita Mahreyni said, the establishment of the PT Semen Gresik factory in Rembang as Obvitnas is the government's acknowledgment and real support for the Company's strategic role in supporting national industrial growth.

"SIG appreciates the determination of the PT Semen Gresik factory in Rembang as Obvitnas by the Ministry of Industry. This is a strategic step to support the smooth operation, so that PT Semen Gresik can continue to contribute to development in Indonesia and provide maximum benefits for the nation and state," said Vita Mahreyni, Monday, January 29.

Furthermore, Vita added that the PT Semen Gresik factory in Rembang operates with the support of the latest international standard technology operated by the best human resources to produce high-quality and environmentally friendly cement.

In addition to supporting regional development and progress through economic contributions, both from taxes and levies, the Company is also the driving force for community empowerment programs around the operating area. Until now, PT Semen Gresik is listed as the highest contributor to taxes and levies in Rembang Regency, Central Java.

Meanwhile, community empowerment is carried out through various programs, including the environmental sector through the Edupark & Agriculture Program of Integrated Livestock Plantation (P4T), infrastructure development fields in six villages around the company through the Madani Community Forum (FMM) program, agriculture by forming the Semen Gresik Friends of Farmers (SGSP), the arts sector through Semen Gresik Sahabat Se (SGSS), and the MSME Empowerment Program Upgrading Class through the Rembang BUMN (RB) House.

Since its establishment from August 2020 to December 2023, RB Rembang has fostered and helped 371 MSMEs advance to class with 1,527 employment people. RB Rembang also managed to record transactions of up to IDR 3 billion during its three years of operation.
