JAKARTA - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) through the Maritime and Fisheries HR Counseling and Development Agency (BPPSDM) continues to optimize the Merdeka Learning Campus Merdeka (MBKM) program in the vocational education unit within the KKP as an effort to increase HR capacity.
This was done, one of which was through practice activities carried out by the Polytechnic of KP Sidoarjo, East Java (East Java).
The practice was held at the Bantul Fishery Product Processing Mechanization Research Lot (LRMPHP), Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY). In implementing the vocational education system, the KKP does apply 70 percent of the practice and 30 percent of the theory.
Head of BPPSDM I Nyoman Radiarta said, as a form of support for the implementation of MBKM, LRMPHP received 29 cadets of the Polytechnic KP Sidoarjo. This step is part of an effort to optimize ex-research assets to support human resource development.
"BPPSDM is committed to improving the quality standards of the KP education unit by adopting the MBKM scheme, where teaching and learning activities are not only carried out on campuses or classrooms but also carried out through practice activities at UPT within the BPPSDM scope as well as internships in the business world and the KP industry," said Nyoman in his official statement, quoted Monday, January 15.
Nyoman explained that MBKM is a policy of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Mendikbud Ristek) which aims to encourage students to master various sciences that are useful for entering the world of work.
Merdeka Campus itself provides an opportunity for students to choose the course they will take.
"The synergy and collaboration of all BPPSDM Technical Implementation Units (UPT) is an important point in the success of the BPPSDM Strategic Program and the KKP priority program based on the blue economy," he said.
The cadets of the Polytechnic KP Sidoarjo who practice it come from the Semester Even Fisheries Mechanization Study Program for the Academic Year 2023/2024. They will carry out practical activities for the next six months.
In this practice, they will study with lecturers and instructors directly in the classroom and hands-on experience at workshops and construction workshops owned by LRMPHP.
On the same occasion, the Head of LRMPHP Kartika Winta Apriliany welcomed the collaboration between the KKP and the Sidoarjo KP Polytechnic.
"We are happy if the human resources and LRMPHP assets in the form of workshops, construction workshops, laboratories and prototypes of fishery machines that we have developed can be used as educational media while providing hands-on experience for cadets to increase knowledge in the field of fishery mechanization," he said.
Winta hopes that by studying in DIY which is a student city, cadets can be eager to increase their hard and soft skills.
"Hopefully (the cadets) can continue to hone their social skills to adapt to different learning environments and absorb new, good values that may be different from the previous learning place," he said.
According to Winta, MBKM activities also provide space for instructors to be involved in teaching and learning activities and hone public communication skills. Thus, this collaboration is a symbiotic that is for both parties.
"The collaboration between LRMPHP and the Polytechnic of KP Sidoarjo is a form of BPPSDM's commitment to producing superior human resources by optimizing their resources and assets," he said.
