Oil Lifting 2023 Below Target, Government Relys On Rokan Block

JAKARTA - The achievement of domestic oil lifting has not yet reached the target. It is known that the realization of oil lifting has only reached 607.5 thousand barrels of oil per day (BOPD) and is still low when compared to the target of 660 thousand BOPD.

Meanwhile, the gas distribution throughout 2023 has only realized 964 thousand barrels of equivalent oil per day (BOEPD) from the assumption set at 1.1 million BOEPD.

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Arifin Tasrif admitted that the achievement of Indonesian oil lifting is still far from the target and heavy.

To increase oil lifting, said Arifin, his party will still rely on non-conventional oil and gas (MNK) in the Rokan Block.

"We are currently working on oil in Rokan. In June, hopefully, the results of the study will conclude," said Arifin, quoted on Monday, January 8.

It is known that the first tax will be carried out at Gulamo Field, Bangko District, Rokan Hilir Regency in July 2023, and will continue at Kelok Field.

According to him, currently the rig used to drill the first well has been moved to drill into the second well in Rokan.

Arifin also said that so far the Rokan Block hanga, which is interesting to work on, has great potential.

"What's interesting is that, but there are those who are interested in entering. It's big," concluded Arifin. For information, the potential of the MNK in the Rokan WK is in the formation of Pematang Brownshale and Lower Red Bed at a depth of more than 6,000 ft.

The well of MNK Gulamo with a total depth plan of 8,559 ft Measured Depth (MD) is one of two vertical exploration wells planned by PT PHR, as the exploration stage of MNK Rokan.

The MNK Gulomo exploration well drilling operation will use a large rig with 1,500 Horse Power (HP) personnel.

As a comparison, conventional oil and gas exploration and exploitation operations in Rokan's working area generally use a Rig 350 HP/550 HP/750 HP.

A fairly wide well pad area is needed about 2.5 ha or 2.5 times wider than well pad in general. At the development stage, well pad can accommodate about 8 head of development wells.
