JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) plans to inaugurate the Pakupatan Type A Terminal, Serang, Banten, on Monday, January 8, 2024. This terminal has been revitalized and carries the concept of mixed use or modern multifunction.

This was conveyed by the Minister of Transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi, after his working visit to review the preparations for the Pakupatan Type A Terminal, Serang, Banten.

"Terminal Type A Pakupatan, Serang, Banten, is planned to be inaugurated by President Joko Widodo on Monday, January 8, 2024," he said in an official statement, Sunday, January 7, 2024.

During his visit, Budi also checked building facilities, such as passenger arrival areas, bus areas, and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the terminal area.

Furthermore, Budi revealed that the terminal has existed since 1995 which functions to serve mass transportation in cities, inter-city in the province (AKDP), and inter-provincial cities (AKAP).

"Starting in 2022, we will revitalize it with more complete functions and facilities. So, people are more comfortable to come to the terminal," he said.

Carrying Modern Multifunction Concept

Budi said that since the delegation of authority in the management of Terminal Type A from the local government to the central government, the revitalization of Terminal Type A has become one of the government's priority programs.

"We continue to improve terminal facilities like airports to increase public interest in using mass transportation, especially buses," he said.

Budi further said that the revitalization carried out in a number of terminals, the Pakupatan Terminal carries the concept of mixed use, namely a modern terminal concept of multifunction with three main functions.

"CLUDING its function as a place to ride and drop for bus passengers, its function as a driving force for the regional economy, as well as its function as a center for social, artistic, and cultural activities," he explained.

According to Budi, every day the terminal with a land area of 30,569 square meters serves 359 buses operating. In detail, 265 buses serve intercity interprovincial routes (AKAP) and 94 buses serve intercity routes in the province (AKDP).

The terminal serves 84 AKAP bus routes and 23 AKDP routes. Meanwhile, the average number of passengers served is around three thousand more per day.
